The key changes were:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Reduction of Eligibility limit from 1MW to 0.5mw<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allowing sourcing of power from multiple sources<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allowing sourcing of power from power exchanges.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A comparative analysis, with the previous Open Access Regulation, 2014 is given below:<\/span><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/44.224.164.21\/new__w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/openaccess_merc_2014_2015.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3424\" title=\"openaccess_merc_2014_2015\" src=\"http:\/\/44.224.164.21\/new__w\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/openaccess_merc_2014_2015.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"724\" height=\"547\" srcset=\"https:\/\/reconnectenergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/openaccess_merc_2014_2015.png 724w, https:\/\/reconnectenergy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/openaccess_merc_2014_2015-300x227.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 724px) 100vw, 724px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The open access consumers shall pay wheeling Charges, Cross Subsidy Surcharge and additional Surcharge as specified by the state commission in relevant orders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Open Access Customer having a load of 5 MW or above shall pay Reactive Energy Charges and also shall pay Standby charges for drawl of power by open access consumer.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0Honorable\u00a0commission has invited comments and suggestions from various stakeholders on the same, to be submitted till 8<\/span><sup style=\"color: #000000;\">th<\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> October 2015.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">In our opinion, MERC has\u00a0proposed\u00a0a progressive open access regulation. In the recent past, consumers in\u00a0Maharashtra\u00a0have\u00a0faced\u00a0various issues\u00a0and\u00a0problems of availing open access (for example, allowing open access only from one source and reduction in contract demand as a result of open access).
